Funny Stuff

I was just looking at my gmail account and noticed some email from 2004. I was reading through some of them and along with old comments I noticed someone thanking me for a gmail account invitation. You guys remember when you had to be given an invitation to get a gmail email account? Ha, ha, wow, that was a long time ago. I had completely forgotten about that!

Depeche Mode

The Depeche Mode concert was ok. I really, really need to stop going to concerts from bands of the 80s. There is just one basic problem I think...In my mind those 80s bands stopped making music once I stopped listening to them, so, Songs of Faith and Devotion (1993) was pretty much the last record I remember from Depeche Mode. Without me noticing they went on to record a million other records that pretty much left me only knowing around 8 songs at the concert. A concert that I bought reserved tickets to because I thought I was actually going to know all the songs...crap!

George Strait

Had a wonderful time at the George Strait concert last night. We actually did not leave the house until 7:15pm and made it to Reliant Stadium to hear a couple of songs from Sugarland. We got there so late that we did not have to pay the $30 parking fee! Score!! Anyway, George Strait was great.

Coldplay

Went to see Coldplay last night at The Woodlands Pavilion. I must say that eventhough I am not a Coldplay fan their concert was pretty good. They did a Michael Jackson cover that was pretty awesome. After the concert we headed to Baker Street for some drinks. Yeap, bad idea!

Religion

On the way to my mom's house Baby Girl noticed three men riding bikes with white button up shirts and neckties, she asked me what they were doing on the street. I tell her that they are Mormons and that they go around door-to-door spreading the word. She asks me what a Mormon is, I tell her it's a religion...then she says, "what kind of religion would want you to get run over by a car? that is weird!" I guess I can scratch Mormon off the list of religions that she might be interested in when she grows up.

The kids have been asking for a puppy for a while now. This morning Baby Girl was looking at pictures of little puppies and she says "This is exactly what I want". The puppy is all furry and super cute. I say, "well, that puppy grows up to be gross and poop all over my house!" She says,"when it gets older and it stops being cute we can just sell it or give it away". I am sure glad her rules don't apply to children!!

The Real Cost of Birthdays!!

My daughter found the Tiffany catalog and started picking out stuff she wants for her bday. She found a cute necklace and said "It is only $250 dollars". I said fine, you either get the necklace or a party. She said "forget it, I'll take the party". Darn it!!! I would of bought her the necklace in a heartbeat, she wants a Sweet and Sassy party followed by a sleepover. Her friends are sassy and NOT sweet.

Bring it Universe!!

The universe has a way of balancing itself out...my 21 month old tells me (by grunting) that he needs to go potty. I walk with him, take his diaper off, and sit him on the big potty. He does not go, but when he is "finished" he puts the toilet lid down and flushes. I am so owed this!!! My second son was almost 4 (2 months shy) before he was potty trained! He cried hysterically if I was near the bathroom with him!!
I think i just jinxed myself, but had to share!!

They Do Listen!!

The Sequel yells "Mom!! Baby Girl just said a bad word". What did she say? I ask him. "She said, stupid". Baby Girl comes running in and says "I said it to a non-living thing, non-living mom!". I find it funny because I have made that argument also. Tear, tear, those kids are listening.

Worker Bee....Not!!!

Funny thing - This morning I told Baby Girl that I would pay her $4 an hour to work for me. She asked if she would be paid daily. I told her that I would pay her every Friday for the week worked. She asked if I could drive her to Toys R Us after I pay her. I said, sure! Anyway, I told her to keep track of her hours, sign in and out that type of thing. Anyway, she told me that she was taking of from work today. I told her that she had not even started working and how could she take the day off? She said that I had just told her today and that she was not ready. She also asked me if she could take breaks if her friends came over...wth?!! What kind of worker am I raising here?!!
She has yet to start working...sigh!

New Job

I finally got the call today. The lady on the other end said that I needed to go by Human Resources and fill out the paperwork. I told her that I had been getting kind of worried since I actually got hired 8 days ago and had gotten an email about getting fingerprinted, but had yet to hear from Human Resources. Anyway, she asked me when I could go in. I said, right away, of course!

I print out all the paperwork (a whole 25 pages) and fill them in before heading to sign on the dotted line. Everything is going fine until she tells me that she needs to contact the High School to see when they want my starting day to be. She asks me if I have a preference on when I want to start. There I go thinking of all the million and one things I need to get done like, nails, hair, and school clothes shopping, and tell her that this coming Monday (April 20) would be fine. Anyway she gets on the phone and tells me that the Assistant Principal wants me to start tomorrow, Wednesday (April 15). I kind of choked a little bit on my spit…WHAT??? Didn’t they read my thoughts? I said I still needed to do my nails, hair, and shop for school clothes, PLUS figuring out how my daughter is going to get to school since I need to be at the high school at 7am.

I left the HR building and drove a town over to give them my fingerprints. I hope nothing comes back negative now since I am not going anywhere, they are going to have to call the National Guard to remove me from my new job! While driving I had to cancel my noon hair appointment on Friday and change it to a time I can actually manage. I also had to call the nail place and hope that they could squeeze me in today. I drove to the mall and did some last minute, super fast, shopping, and actually managed to find a really cute shirt to wear tomorrow.

I am super nervous about the new job. I tend to get panic attacks before meeting new people and tend to stutter when I am nervous…yeap, it is going to be an interesting day!! By the way, in case you all were wondering…I am a Library Asst. at a High School.

We Are Off To See The Wizard

On Sunday we went to the Hobby Center to see The Wizard of Oz. I thought my daughter would be a little more excited to see The Wizard since we are die hard Wicked fans, but that was not the case. Baby Girl kept saying that she had already seen the movie and that she had not liked it all that much...what? It is the front-end, pre-sequel, to Wicked!! Blasphemy!!

Our tickets sucked. We were all the way up in the peanut gallery section, well, I would say past the peanut gallery section. Since the husband and I are unemployed we decided to save some cash by sitting next to the people wearing sports jerseys and baseball caps. Some of them even had CROCS!!! Who goes to the theatre with Crocs??!!

Anyway, the play was ok. The doggie, Toto, did an amazing job. The music was good and the acting commendable. Overall I give it one thumb up! The play however got me super excited about seeing Wicked this summer in Austin. I can't wait.

My Ghetto Daughter

My daughter will kill me today! We are looking at twirling outfits for competition...I want elegant and classy, she wants Rainbow Brite meets a bag of Skittles topped with "sparkles and lots of colorful gems". Yay me!!
I don't know where this girl gets it from. If the piece of clothing has sparkles, rhinestones, glitter, or butterflies she is all over it. She is not my daughter! I try to take her to the nice stores, I take her to Ralph Lauren and say, you can have anything you want, she just looks at me and says, no, thanks! She is a lover of that place they call Justice. I was a frienemy of Limited Too, they had some nice stuff mixed in with the overpriced Hanna Montana and Jonas Brother t-shirts. Since LT is gone, I am stuck with Justice. Great!
Aside from my hatred of anything she pics, she does make me laugh inside a little. She sounds so mature at explaining to me how she is the one wearing clothes and how I need to understand that we both have different tastes. Then of course I have to remind her that I am the one paying for the clothes!
I do compromise some, but dread the day that she gets a part-time job just to pay for her own clothing.
Sigh!

What are Those?

Just tried to explain to my 4 yo the difference between man's nipples and woman's breasts while by 7 yo daughter chimed in. I think he is more confused now!
Ha, ha, and all this while I was changing. He pulled up his shirt and started touching his nipples and asked me what they were called, then asked me what mine are called. Then Baby Girl came in and told us that I had the biggest ones! Then my confused 4 yo said that no! daddy had the biggest ones. Those kids make me chuckle.

Peanut Butter!!

My son's (The Sequel) favorite sandwich is turkey, cheese, and peanut butter!! NO BREAD. I don't know about you guys, but that sound gross to me. I happily make it for him, since he is really picky and doesn't eat well most of the time. It does roll neatly into a roll which makes it easier for him to handle and eat, so that is nice. Peanut butter!! peanut butter!! Really?!!
